I was hellbent on seeing this movie and I must say it did not disappoint. This reminded me of something a cross between a Hitchcock story and a lengthy Twilight Zone episode. M. Night Shyamalan has really outdone himself this time. He did a wonderful job of writing the script for this film. I think had he directed this production too, it might not have been a great success, since his last few brainchild's like "Lady In The Water" and the "Happening" were such major flops. The "Last Airbender" was certainly no better. His best works as we know are "The Six Sense", "Signs", and "The Village"... now those were good flicks. Perhaps at this time it would be best if he just stuck to writing and avoid directing altogether... who knows, this could be his new calling. As far as "Devil" goes, I thought it had a very intriguing story with an absorbing plot line. Even if it's a little far-fetched... so what, I still enjoyed it. The whole concept of the devil wreaking havoc on the lives of the five people trapped in the elevator was ingenious. There is just the right amount of horror and suspense in this flick with a healthy dose of comic relief as well. No gory scenes or nothing too extreme that no one can't stomach, and with minimal profanity. Indeed you will be on tenterhooks throughout the entire movie trying to guess what happens next. Also, the acting is pretty good and convincing. It might not be Oscar-worthy, but it is well cast. Sit tight for the twist at the end of the film, you will be undoubtedly shocked, leaving the theater and thinking about it long after the show's out. Overall," Devil" is a very smart, stylish picture. Don't miss it.
