Cross Spider-Man and Batman and what do you have? Spider Bat. NO! You have Daredevil. What was once my favorite comic book superhero is now one of my least favorite comic-based movies. Only the fourth Batman movie and the last couple of Superman flicks were worse than this digitally animated action romp. The action scenes were far too difficult to follow, there was way too much use of CG stunt men, and oh how I do hate that. If you can't make a stunt scene possible with REAL people, and you can't make the CG at least look REAL, then please, just leave it out. Aside from the crummy special effects, we get a nearly non-existent story, a lousy origin sequence, too many views of what everything looks like for Daredevil, way too many sound effects happening at the same time, supposedly trying to make us hear all the noise our hearing-enhanced hero hears, and most of all, a main villain you hardly get to see. I think Michael Clarke Duncan was an excellent choice to play Kingpin, regardless of his skin colour. Could anyone think of a better choice? Marlon Brando? King Kong Bundy? A digitally-enlarged Danny DeVito? No, Duncan is the Kingpin, hands down, but he might have had about 15 minutes of screen time. Colin Farrell as Bullseye stole the show though. Every scene he was in was just pure entertainment. He, sadly, was not in it that much either. Nope, this movie centres more on Daredevil and his relationship with Elektra, alias Jennifer Garner (get it? Alias?).. I wanted to like this, I tried to like this, but I was disappointed in the end. This is no X-Men, or not even a Spider-Man. Ebert and Roeper think this movie was close to being great. I think they're close to being retarded. My next point: I had to watch this in a packed theatre at Cinema Guzzo on a Saturday night. What with all the cell phones going off and the teenagers getting up and running around all through the movie and the old lady yapping to her friend behind me the whole time, I nearly had an aneurism. It was a miracle I was even able to pay attention to the movie. In fact, I missed some of the ending trying to tell people to shut up all around me. So, perhaps my rating is skewed a tad lower than it should be. Yo, people, at the movies... SHUT UP!!!
