Much like the first Shrek, this one is the movie to defeat this year. I watched the first one immediately before heading off to the theatre to see part 2, and I have to say, while the original was awesomely great, Shrek 2 was just better. It was a worthy sequel, with new characters, a new villain, and tons more jokes. You'd seriously have to have a chemical imbalance in your brain to not find this movie hilarious. Anyone who complains about all the pop culture references is just looking for reasons not to like it, maybe because they thought Van Helsing was in danger of being defeated at the box office or something. It's a good ol'fashioned great time at the movies and it makes me feel better about the money I've wasted at the multiplexes so far this year. The best computer-animated film to date, beating out the Toy Story pair by a nose.
