What a stupid movie, how did this ever win best picture. The most unrealistic war movie since... something with John Wayne in it. There is no way it should have beat Avatar. Avatar changed the way people make movies, now all the new tech 3-d releases coming (starting with Alice) I will conceed that some of the scenes are shot suspensefully from a technical point of view, but it is at best an average directing job. Too bad the first women to get best director only got it cuz she is a women. The story itself is pure crap. There is no resemblance to the truth of how an EOD unit works. It is NOT 3 guys in one vehicle riding around like cowboys doing whatever they want, accountable to no one, and supported by no one. The EOD guys don't go on there own to start fire fights in the city at night to "take care of buisness", or if they do they are dead. The relationship of how soliders deal with hodgies (Iraqui citizens) and how the hodgies see the US soldiers in the film is laughable. The American Col kissing ass to the Sergeant first class, wtf! The film hinges around these guys diffusing bombs, Bullshit. Maybe one bomb in a thousand ever gets diffused. It is simply to dangerous, to easy to rig to blow, not worth the effort. Bombs are packed in C4 and blown up where they are found, after a perimeter is cleared. If it's in the city sand bags or barriers are packed around the bomb to contain the blast. This film is an insult to anyone who has served.
